Ulm University & University of Freiburg conducted a study where they evaluated the general characteristics, content and functions, privacy and security features and overall quality rating of 109 apps for GI disorders found in app stores.
- Researchers employed the MARS (mobile app rating scale), a validated taxonomy for mhealth app evaluation.
- Correspondingly, endpoints were engagement, functionality, aesthetics, information quality, subjective quality and perceived impact.
- Of 109 apps reviewed, My IBD Care was the highest scoring mobile application for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and the only one that met the data protection standards set by the researchers.
