Patient Voices Podcast Launch – August 2021

We've launched Ampersand's Patient Voices Podcast: Experiences and expertise from the Ampersand community.

It’s time for something new!

We consistently hear from the Ampersand Health community how valuable it is to engage with individuals and groups with shared experiences and those with relevant expertise. We listened to that feedback, and decided to bring some of the many brilliant conversations and discussions we have had together in a brand new podcast, Patient Voices

We’ll bring you insights and stories from individuals with lived experience of inflammatory diseases, alongside clinicians and other healthcare experts, focussing on real experiences and practical advice in each conversation.

In the first season, our host Aahuti Rai, Chief Commercial Officer at Ampersand Health, speaks to members of Ampersand’s Patient Panel – Guests include Katy, diagnosed with arthritis at 28 years old, Clive who’s been living with arthritis for over 30 years now, and Teresa, also diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. We also hear from James, who is diagnosed with IBD, and Anisha, an NHS worker and Inclusive Dance and Zumba Instructor who is diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Each shares their personal story and reflections on their condition and their treatment.

Alongside these patient voices, we’ll also hear from healthcare practitioners including

– Sally, Head of Information and Support Services at the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society (NASS).

– Heather, a health and life coach and former Clinical Nurse Specialist.

– Dr Yeliz, an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist and a researcher, certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, and Teaching in Academic Practice.

During this season, we cover community support, self-management techniques and digital therapies, difficult diagnoses, careers and parenting alongside inflammatory diseases, technology, ethics and the future of treatment.

Commenting on the podcast’s first season, host Aahuti Rai says:

“I’m grateful to all our guests for their generosity in sharing so openly. Whatever your role in the healthcare delivery universe – clinical or complementary, digital or not, provider or payer, pharma or policy maker, these experiences are insightful.”

Co-created with SomX: the healthtech agency, Patient Voices is now live! Find it wherever you get your podcasts. We hope you’ll get as much out of the conversations as we did, so please let us know what you think by subscribing and rating the podcast, and join the conversation using #PatientVoices.
